Thanksgiving Turkeys are back!

Every year around this time the turkeys start to hit their stride and really put on weight. They’ve moved beyond their awkward baby phase and are confidently patrolling the pasture now, necks stretched tall, feathers catching the breeze, always curious, sometimes escaping. If you’ve never watched a flock of heritage turkeys trot across the grass with purpose, you’re missing out. They’re equal parts comical and majestic.

This year, we’ve got just 16 turkeys on the farm, and they’re already well on their way to becoming the centerpiece of someone’s Thanksgiving table. Maybe even yours.

We raise our turkeys slowly, the old-fashioned way. They live outdoors on pasture and get moved daily in their tractors, giving them access to fresh grass, bugs, and sunshine. They’re a mix of heritage breeds, which means they grow slower than the conventional broad-breasted turkeys you’ll find in the grocery store and they have a more balanced mix of white and dark meat. But that’s part of what makes them special. They take their time, and so do we.

Because of their breed and natural growth pattern, the final weights vary. We do our best to match your requested size, but expect a little natural range:

  • Smallest birds: around 8 lbs

  • Largest: up to 20 lbs

  • Most fall in the 12–14 lb range

They’ll be processed November 19, and ready for pickup the following day fresh from the farm (or local delivery if that ends up being an option again). If you’ve been thinking about making the switch to a pasture-raised holiday bird, now’s the time.

The preorder is now open and now is the time to guarantee the best pasture raised turkey you’ve ever had.  The $20 deposit secures your turkey and is applied to the final cost of the bird. Our turkeys always sell out, and with just 16 birds this year, we expect it to go fast.
